Giulio Iacchetti

Biography

Giulio Iacchetti was born in 1966, and has been involved in industrial design since 1992. In addition to his designing work, he also lectures at several Universities and design schools in Italy and abroad. A distinctive characteristic of his work is the study and creation of new types of objects, like the “Moscardino”. This bio-degradable multi-purpose fork won him the “Compasso d’Oro” in 2001 together with Matteo Ragni. It is now part of the permanent design collection at the MoMA in New York. The conception and coordination of the collective Eureka Coop project, carried out for Coop Italia, brought design to into the world of large chain stores, characterising the new generation of Italian design. In 2009 this project was recognized for its innovation and he was awarded the “Premio dei Premi” [“Prize of all Prizes”] by the President of Italy. Combined with his design work, he also supervises designs for leading brands like iB taps and fittings, “ceramica Globo” and the “Coccio design edition”. He compiled the publication “Italianità” [the Italian Spirit] for Corraini Edizioni. This is a collection of interviews relating to the objects, symbols, smells, tastes and sounds that come together to create the consciousness of the Italian people. In May 2009 he opened a personal exhibition at the Triennale in Milan, entitled “Giulio Iacchetti. Oggetti disobbedienti”. [Disobedient objects].
